2nd International Land Conservation Network Congress in Berlin
A brief chronicle of the LandLife project representation
From 19th to 21st October 2015, representatives from XCT and from the LandLife project attended at the 2nd ILCN (International Land Conservation Network) Congress in Berlin (Germany). More than 100 people from different countries all over the world attended to this event.
There, they discussed and worked on the main issues related to the development and organization of the global private conservation, which is clearly growing since the beginning of the 21st century.
The sessions mainly developed in regard of the legislation, finances, conservation methodologies, monitoring and communication from the land trusts. Land Stewardship became a key issue in the development of conservation actions and, in consequence, XCT and the LANDLIFE Project became leaders in land stewardship due to their experience. XCT had also the support of the Catalan Government, which has demonstrated in many ways its willingness to promote land stewardship locally.
The ILCN Congress was definitely a step towards the consolidation of the International Land Conservation Network, which wish to become a referent for private land trusts in terms of:
- Exchange of information and expertise between trusts.
- Education and learning.
- Umbrella organization that constitutes a lobby to push international institutions.
In addition and during the Congress, a meeting between European partners from ILCN took place for the creation of a specific structure to ensure the accomplishment of these objectives in Europe and for the European Union.
