Who can attend the Congress?
The Congress is addressed to a wide range of actors interested in nature and biodiversity conservation from all around Europe, more particularly:
- Land stewardship organisations (public, private, non-profit);
- Land users;
- Site Managers working on nature conservation within and outside Natura 2000 sites;
- Staff working in outreach / public information functions;
- Staff working directly to support the implementation of Natura 2000 and other protected areas;
- Biodiversity conservation experts;
- Researchers and students in ecology, geography, conservation biology, environmental history and policy;
- Staff working on regional cooperation and rural and landscape development, at a more strategic level.
- Stakeholders from local communities;
- Local and national authorities;
- Elected representatives and politicians;
- Volunteers working to conserve nature on a local and/or regional level;
- People interested on land stewardship, nature conservation and biodiversity.
What is the objective of the First European Land Stewardship Congress?
The First European Land Stewardship Congress Land: Quality of Life is organised in the framework of the LandLife, a Communication and Information LIFE+ project which aims to boost land stewardship as a useful tool for nature and biodiversity conservation in the Mediterranean Arch and Europe.
The first edition of the Congress aims to promote an interactive discussion, generate ideas and encourage exchanges of experiences and knowledge, as well as to suggest directions and proposals for the future of land stewardship in Europe and the LandLife project.
A Declaration on Land Stewardship will be discussed and presented at the Congress which aims to establish the next steps to work on land stewardship at both regional and European level
How much does the Congress registration cost?
The registration fees are as follows:

When will the Congress take place?
The Congress will take place from 05-08 November 2014.
The Congress will be open by a special session during the 05th that will be following by a series of workshops and events during the 06th and the 07th. Additionally, a full day field trip is planned for the 08h. During the trip different land stewardship experiences will be visited.
Where will the Congress take place?
The Congress will take place at the facilities of Cosmocaixa, Barcelona (Catalonia), located at the Street Isaac Newton, 26.
Cosmocaixa is the Science Museum of the "la Caixa" Foundation in Barcelona. It was the first interactive Science Museum in Spain and has received several awards as the Best Museum of the Year Award in 2006 of the European Museum Forum.
The institution has an established and widely recognised reputation for its pedagogical and educational initiatives. The uniqueness of this museum is that, through the five senses, the visitor can try and experience the evolution of life, states of matter, the laws of nature, the world of biology and many other interesting things that surround us in our daily lives. Visitors can actively participate in over 120 different experimental activities relating to physics, chemistry, optics and energy.

What will the working language of the Congress be?
The Congress working language will be English.
Only the opening and the closing sessions will include simultaneous translations in English, French, Spanish and Catalan.
Please take note, technical workshops will be held in English only.
During the Congress, attendants will have access to the support of volunteers with language skills that can help attendants with any request they might have.
What is included in the registration fee?
The Congress fee includes full access to the opening and closing session, workshops and parallel activities, the Congress material, lunches (except the 5th November 2014) and coffees break.
Please note, the Congress fee does not include especial dinners during the 5th and 07th. The delegates interested to attend these dinners should be fully responsible for these expenses and pay them directly at the restaurant. For logistical reasons, the Congress’ organisers only will be responsible for table booking. In the inscription form you have to select which dinner you will attend.
Travel and accommodation expenses will not be funded by the LandLife partners. Participants themselves are fully responsible for travel and accommodation costs; LandLife partners can only support by providing information about accommodation near to the Congress location.

I live outside the Schengen area: How do I to obtain a Visa?
LandLife partners will not deal with the acquisition of a Visa for any participant: participants have to manage the Visa acquisition by themselves. Participants are responsible for contacting their embassy or consulate to get more information about the necessary documents and to be sure that they meet all the legal requirements to travel to Spain. LandLife partners are not responsible for any problem attendants may encounter once they enter Spain.
How do I register for the Congress?
Attendants can register by filling in the online registration form: http://www.landstewardship.eu/ca/register/registration
Once the form is filled, you will receive a confirmation of pre-registration via email. The registration fee should be transferred to the bank account indicated in the pre-confirmation email.
Your registration will only be effective once the registration fee is paid. If the payment is not done within 15 days of registration, your subscription will expire.
How do I apply to volunteer?
How do I apply to participate in a Workshop?
Anyone interested in participating in the workshops can deliver a presentation focused in one of congress topics by filling in the workshop participation form.
The presentations should be written in English and limited to 15 minutes, with time for a final discussion and questions.

The call for participation will be open until 31 May 2014 and the final selection will be communicated by email by 20 June 2014.
The Steering Committee will be in charge of selecting the presentations in accordance with the participation criteria (available soon).
How do I apply for the Project Poster Exhibition?
The number of posters is limited and they will be selected by the Steering Committee. To participate fill in the Poster Exhibtion Form.
The deadline for submission is 2 September 2014 and the poster acceptance selection will be communicated by email by 16 September.
If your project is selected you will be given a specific space at the exhibition area. The Poster Exhibition will also be accessible to the Science Museum visitors. Additionally, during the 6 November an oral poster presentations will take place. The presentations are limited to 10-15 minutes in length. Please indicate in the Exhibition form whether you are interested in this option.
How can I participate in the Congress?
The Congress offers different ways to participate:
- Attend the different congress workshops and activities by registering here;
- Become a LandLife volunteer to help the organisers make the Congress a success by filling in the Volunteers Form here;
- Submit a communication in one of the workshops areas by filling in the Call for Participation Form here;
- Submit a poster for the project poster exhibition by filling in the Exhibition Form here.
Does the Congress venue have free wi-fi?
During the LandLife congress participants will have free wi-fi access. A password is required (available soon).
Does the Congress have a Twitter and Facebook account?
Can I obtain a certificate of participation in the Congress?
Yes. To obtain the certificate of participation you should indicate this option in the Congress registration form. Land Stewardship Network -xct will provide the certificate by email to each of the participants who have requested it.
Can I cancel my participation in the Congress?
Cancellations are free of charge until one month before the Congress starts. After the 5th October 2014, the Congress organisers will not apply any fee devolution, except in the case of a medical certificate being provided or if the organisation notifies a substitute.
