XCT and LANDLIFE Project attended the 2015 Green Week in Brussels
From the 3rd to the 5th of June of 2015, the XCT attended the European Green Week at the Egg Conference Centre in Brussels with a stand named "XCT and LANDLIFE”.
The LANDLIFE Project, as part of the European Strategy of nature conservation in the EU, had the opportunity to share experiences and carry out networking activities during the Green Week. It was an opportunity to share the project results with the attendees as well as to provide project diffusion materials among them.
The stand turned into an interesting meeting point at the venue, as all the coffee and lunch breaks took place around the stand in the Riverside. Members of the LIFE Unit as well as experts in nature conservation happened to meet in the stand's surroundings.
Thus, more than one further collaboration between organizations were agreed around the LANDLIFE Stand. Very near to the stand it took place the conference titled "Engaging and rewarding private landowners: can we find new ways?".
The LIFE Programme recently launched the report "Alternative ways to support Private Land Conservation, which was discussed in the conference and LANDLIFE Project and was mentioned as a reference of private land conservation strategies.
The President of XCT was interviewed firstly by a local TV Channel in Catalonia and secondly by the EC Communication Team as a participant in the environmental event. As a result, a great number of people visited the stand showing interest in the project and its results. Consequently 24 new people signed the Barcelona Declaration.
As part of the “After LIFE Communication Plan” of the project, the next diffusion materials were spread out among the attendees: 200 Land Stewardship Manuals, 150 Project leaflets, 50 Regional leaflets of the Land Stewardship Week, 1000 Project Cards, 6 Tale for kids "what's going on the pond".
Besides, other local and regional Land Stewardship organizations could spread out their own diffusion materials in the more international environment event in Europe.
Thanks to the European Commission and to the LIFE Unit, XCT, the Coordinator Beneficiary of the project, had the opportunity to strengthen the Land Stewardship Network around Europe.
